Prosjektet ser nærmere på betydningen av sterke bilaterale relasjoner mellom stater for internasjonal sikkerhetspolitikk.

9. september forsvarte NUPIs forskningssjef Iver B. Neumann sin doktorgrad i Sosialantropologi ved Universitetet i Oslo. Sermonien gikk av stabelen på Universitetet Blinderen i Oslo. Dette er Iver B. Neumanns andre doktorgrad.
